May project: a touching video

It’s day 26 in the blog every day in May challenge. Today the prompt is: Something you read online. Leave a link and discuss, if you’d like.

I’m choosing instead to share a link to a video I just wanted. A lot of you have probably already heard of Zach Sobiech but in case you have not here is a video about him and what he chose to do with the short life he was given. It’s quite sad I should warn you but also uplifting in a way.

May project: my big, beautiful eyes

It’s day 25 of the blog every day in May challenge. Today the prompt is: Something someone told you about yourself that you’ll never forget (good or bad).

This is another one I’ve been thinking about for a while. I don’t know that I have a specific someone in mind but when I was little kids at school used to tease me for having a big forehead and large eyes. Well you know kids can be mean and that’s pretty normal. It’s not like I’ve been carrying around this weight for years but in a way it sticks with you.

Through the years though as I’ve become more comfortable with who I am and my personality I’ve come to look at my physical self more confidently too. Sure my forehead might be larger than some but I like to think it’s artistically accurate. When you first learn to draw a face in art class they tell you the eyes are right in the middle. Also I absolutely adore my big, beautiful, blue eyes. There aren’t any makeup tricks needed here! So take that little elementary kids!

Tiny Gold Texas Pendants

Around Christmas time I got a special order to make a couple of gold tiny Texas pendants. I don’t work with gold often so it was kind of a treat to make them. The metal seemed so shiny and delicate. I enjoyed just holding them in my hand and I was sad to see them go.

So recently when I was contacted again to make more of the tiny gold Texas pendants I was so excited! I couldn’t help but take photos of the tiny things all together.

Aren’t they so cute!

Blogging Party Update

So last week I wrote about Lisa, my blogging party link-up partner. A day or 2 after my post I received my package from her! I was so excited to open it! This is what I found…

A very cutely wrapped package with a handwritten note.

A hand sewn tote bag made of vintage fabrics-so cute! You can’t see them in the photo but she even lined the bag and added pockets. I love her attention to detail!

And finally…a knitting needle holder! Holy cow! She also sewed this herself! I told her I knit a lot and she was so kind and thoughtful to make this for me. The best part is I don’t already have one so I was so super excited! It also has so many slots for needles. I added a bunch of needles to it today and I was so pleased with it.

Thank you again Lisa! I am so blessed to have been partnered with you and I really appreciate the effort you put into my gifts!

New Packaging

When I first started my shop (1 year ago tomorrow) I was set on ensuring my packaging have as little impact as possible. That meant reusing items or incorporating packaging that could be reused in some way. I started off reusing tissue paper from gifts, ordered packages, and parties. I would wrap the jewelry up and tuck it inside of a reusable tea bag. I liked the idea but I couldn’t really mark the teabag in any way if I was hoping it would get used for teas or spices. It also seemed to involve too many steps. I waited until I ran out of tea bags and then just started wrapping my pieces in tissue paper, tying them with twine, and adding a business card. It was simple and cute but I started to realize quickly I needed an upgrade. I was noticing a lot of my orders were gifts and I wanted to have packing that would reflect that, not packing that needed to be re-wrapped. I searched around with an idea in mind and ended up finding exactly what I was looking for. I found the most perfect 100% recycled kraft paper matchboxes that could be stamped with my business name! I started using them this month and have been meaning to photograph them and share but I just had not gotten around to it.

About a week ago I got an order from a woman who said she was buying a gift for herself from herself. That made me smile. I mailed out her necklace and a few days later I got a message from her saying she loved her Louisiana necklace and she included a link. I followed the link and this is what I found. I was so touched with her post and beautiful pictures. I message her back right away and jokingly said I might have to ask to use her photos. She very kindly emailed them all to me and said I could use any or all of them if I wanted. Isn’t that so sweet of her! All of the pictures in this post were taken by Linda of Mommy’s Treasures. Thank you so much Linda!

Just a reminder tomorrow is the 1 year anniversary of my Etsy shop! I’m so so so excited! I seriously cannot believe it’s been open that long. I will be offering some really exciting things tomorrow (I haven’t decided what exactly but it will be worth stopping by tomorrow). Have a happy Monday!

Birthday Sale Continued!

So just in case you missed the birthday sale yesterday I have a new one today! You may have noticed I have two online shops! I have an etsy shop that goes by IntegrativeCreations and I have a BigCartel site that goes by OhSoAntsy. Please do not be confused, they are both run by me and have just about the same items. I like being on etsy because it’s so well known and easy to use and navigate. BigCartel is quite nice in that a person only needs a paypal account to purchase, not an account. I like having options for my buyers! So back to the discount–I am offering a 10% discount on your entire order in both of my shops with the code BDAY10. The discount will be good through Saturday at midnight. Woo! I’m so excited to do this so I hope you take advantage!

Have a wonderful weekend if we don’t talk before then!

WIWW-Unintentional.

Over the weekend my plan was to try on different combinations of things in my closet so I would have less to stress about in the morning when picking out at outfit. I purchased The No Brainer Wardrobe from Hayley Morgan and I got so excited about making my closet look good and making it easier for me to get dressed. I bought a bunch of wooden hangers and only hung items I actually do wear. I didn’t really get around to trying much on but I did decide to throw on a scarf with a navy dress before heading to a birthday party.I met my boyfriend at his volleyball game and when we were leaving all dressed up and driving away on a motorcycle I guess someone decided it was picture worthy. I’m glad they did, I love the photo!
