Have I mentioned what SNAP is? If not it’s a creative blogging conference that happens just south of Salt Lake City, UT. I decided to attend to meet other bloggers and handmade artists and to be inspired by them. It was a wonderful weekend away with a group of truly amazing women. A couple of those amazing women I was lucky enough to share a room with.

I roomed with Jacky from The Sweetest Petunia and Albion Gould neither of which I had ever met in person. I’m adventurous like that and they were too. I just loved getting to know these ladies as we shared about ourselves and had some good laughs. Also it was really nice rooming with women who also like going to bed on the earlier side of things. Unlike the party room across the hall. Haha!

It was so nice bonding over our similarities and learning from our differences. I look forward to seeing them again!

Snowshoeing Adventure in Utah

March 9, 2012

In my last post I wrote about our trip to Utah. During the trip Walker and I decided to take a snowshoeing hike through the trails near the resort. We got an early start which was great because we ran into very few people and it was so quiet and peaceful. All of the untouched snow was sparkling in the sun. I wanted to be the first to touch all the perfectness but at the same time want to leave everything undisturbed. I did a little of both. Along the way we had one fortunate encounter and found out about a lake some way up the trail. We made that our goal and journeyed on. It took us about 2 hours to reach the lake since we were stopping every 2 seconds to take pictures. It was just so pretty. I got a lot more pictures of Walker taking pictures of the outdoors and Walker has a lot more nature pictures.

Once we got to the lake (last picture-although it’s difficult to tell since it’s frozen and covered in snow), we took a break in the snowbank and had lunch. Oh winter picnics are pretty awesome. Luckily though it wasn’t too cold so we could enjoy the break and eating with our gloves off. Sitting down was tricky with the snowshoes so I took mine off to eat and thought I could venture off the trail to take a picture. Um no, my leg sunk in until the snow was up to my butt. I quickly handed Walker my camera and crawled out. Best to keep the snowshoes on when snowshoeing. Got it!

After our break we took the fast route back and it only took about an hour.

Snowshoeing was my favorite part of the trip.

First time to Utah (but not first time in the snow)

March 8, 2012

I mentioned a few times that I was going to Utah and I took 2 cameras with me so I got quite a few photos. As you can imagine Utah is pretty cold this time of year but Austin is rather warm this time of year. I was so confused about what to wear to the airport. I finally decided that I would dress for the warm day in Austin and then slip on my boots and coat once we landed in Utah (that worked very well).

For me seeing piles and piles of snow was not out of the ordinary being from Michigan. Walker, on the other hand, was completely amazed and it was so fun to see him in utter awe of it. The mountains are not something I’m used to so the drive through the mountains was really beautiful. The coldest night was the first night so we didn’t spend much time walking around but we did enjoy the outdoor hot tub. Walker got to see what it was like to have frozen hair. haha!

Snowboarding was alright, I went down the bunny hill 4 0r 5 timesĀ  and decided it was a little too intense for me and spend the rest of the day playing in the snow. Snowshoeing was my favorite (I’ll have a post about that tomorrow). It was a rather short trip but we enjoyed ourselves quite a bit.

The picture of Walker and I looking disinterested is one of my favorites from the trip. One because it’s just kind of funny and two because we are both wearing sweaters that I knitted. I teased him about that a bit. But come on it’s super cute right?! Also I wore the hat I knitted for this trip and wrote about here.
